Aerospace Structural Design EngineerSpecific Skills and Requirements:
- An accredited PhD degree in aerospace engineering with minimum 5 years experience in structural numerical simulation and modeling using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), e. g., NASTRAN, Femap and Patran (required). Or an accredited Master's degree in aerospace engineering with 8 years experience in FEA (required).
- Minimum 5 years experience in conventional structural analysis using analytical methods (required).
- Experience in fatigue and structural dynamics (required).
- Experience in aeroelasticity and structural joints (required).
- Experience in nonlinear structural analysis (preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Office products (required).
Job Duties:
- Support all aspects of structural analysis, development and testing of airplanes and wind turbines, including composites and joints.
- Ensure the structural design meets all necessary standards/regulations and verify the models provide a valid representation of the structural behavior.
- Provide technical advice on design changes based on analytical results.
- Plan and perform load tests and modal tests on airplane structures and wind turbine structures.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, specifications and test plans to external customers. Support design reviews and present technical data for design reviews.
- Perform research in novel airplane and wind turbine structures.
- Oversee, review and direct the work of other design engineers on various design projects.
- Assist in proposal writing, budgeting and project management.
