Design, Analysis and Research Corporation (DARcorporation) is seeking an experienced ArduPilot/Firmware Engineer to work in the prototype and test shop at our facility in Lawrence, Kansas. DARcorporation is an Aerospace Engineering Design and Consulting firm that designs, tests and produces prototype UAVs, propellers, aircraft and aerospace related components.

The ArduPilot/Firmware Engineer will work closely with the engineering team and our manufacturing technicians to design, develop, assemble and test prototype UAVs, propellers, aircraft and aerospace related concepts.

Primary Responsibilities:

    • Work independently or with a team to design, build, test and troubleshoot the avionics components on DARcorporation’s prototype UAV systems.
    • Develop innovative and reliable UAV avionics solutions for novel and unique UAV systems.
    • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to design and develop the UAV control systems.
    • Support flight test operations.
    • Modify or revise designs to correct deficiencies.

Qualifications:

  • BS in relevant engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of work experience writing product level code.
  • Experience working with and debugging UAV autopilot software (Pixhawk, ArduPilot).
  • Familiar with using a Github repository in software development.
  • Experience integrating hardware components (sensors) into embedded systems with an understanding of CAN, I2C, SPI and other communication protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • UAV aircraft or drone experience, including experience as an FAA Part 107 UAV pilot is preferred.

Aerospace Engineer

Position 1:

  • CFD: minimum 5 years experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • US Persons only (US Citizen/Green Card holder)

Position 2:

  • Preliminary Design: 10 years of aircraft conceptual design/preliminary design. Strong in aerodynamics, flight dynamics, weight and balance and overall configuration design
