On September 18, 2025 we said good-bye to DARth Vader.
DARth Vader was diagnosed with a brain tumor in July 2025 after many office visits and tests, six teeth extractions and the loss of an eye. He thrived for almost 3 months after diagnoses.
DARth Vader survived two company moves and countless visitors, interns and engineers. His fan base is international.
He was once featured in the Lawrence Magazine, Office Pets Edition, and has inspired many DARcorporation holiday cards and Lawrence humane Society (LHS) sponsorship ads.
BACK STORY: While leaving DARcorporation on April 19, 2017, we found a very hungry and injured black cat. We took him in, fed him and (the next day) took him to the vet to get scanned. He also lost 3 teeth, half his tail and his manhood! Tests showed he was FIV Positive, so after contacting LHS and no one claiming him, he became our Office/Therapy Cat, Mascot and Ambassador.
From day one: DARth Vader ruled the office (what DV wanted, DV got)! He loved the engineers (and they loved him)! DARth Vader spent his days sitting on laps, desks and computer bags, supervising from his cat tree and crashing staff meetings and Zoom calls.
He told us that he was ready to leave, but his spirit will forever remain, and we know we will see glimpses of him on office chairs and keyboards.
Words cannot express how much he will be missed and his impact on our office and employees will create a huge void for days, weeks and months to come. RIP DARth Vader. You were a Very Good Boy!
